Community Spotlight: Eagle Scout Projects

15 Sep Community Spotlight: Eagle Scout Projects

Utah Community Action gets a tremendous amount of help each year from volunteers. In fact, over 4,000 people will participate in volunteer projects for our agency each year. Some folks come with corporate groups, a number are parents who volunteer in our Head Start classrooms, and others are Eagle Scout candidates looking for a way they can give back in their communities.

We’d like to highlight one scout who helped us transform a Head Start location in Midvale – Calvin Christensen. He brought with him 16 volunteers to help with this massive project, and they worked on a challenging landscaping task for four hours. Rasmussen Landscapes provided support for Calvin’s project, the equivalent of a $1500 donation of time and equipment. Check out this incredible time lapse video of this project!

Thanks to Calvin’s efforts and the cooperation of the city of Midvale, this Head Start location now serves as a safe, comfortable place for our children to play and learn.
